Adam Wilt has posted a few stills and videos from NAB 2010 on Provideo Coalition. Many interesting bits of hardware.
That time of year again. May 1st, but booking close on the 23rd of April. Join us for a great night.
Alexa from a production perspective. The prototype shown here on set, with interviews of the crew who shot with it. Looking very good.
Things are beginning to heat up at NAB, with many new cameras announced. This one really stands out though, even if it’s a year away. S35 sized sensor, PL mount, small form factor. Many detail are missing yet, but just looking at what appears to be an Ultra Prime mounted on the prototype makes for interesting speculation.
Sony have released some info on their new XDCAM EX shoulder mount camera, the PMW-320. It looks to be the EX3 1/2″ sensor in a full size package like the PMW-350 2/3″ camera. No pricing yet, but likely to land midway between the EX3 and the 350.
Leica have released a new range of PL mount lenses through Bandpro. T1.4 through out the range, and all identical in size. Very nice.
ARRI have made a few announcements concerning the onboard recording options for Alexa. Providing a ready to go post path, rather than the make it up your self approached used by RED, will be a definite advantage in the Alexa take up. RED have improved, and current options are getting good, but the many past years of ad hoc support with no fixed target have taken their toll.
The 4K iteration of the Penelope could potentially displace the ARRI Alexa as class leading digital cinema camera. Not much is know about the sensor yet.
