Ben Cain has updated his handy article on the correct way to calibrate your monitors.
Sony Australia have gone one better than Sony US with their F3 S-Log promotion. It’s free with new F3s, or $900 for current owners, and it seems you get to keep the 32GB SxS card, which Sony US keeps to re-purpose.
Orders are backlogged again, this time till mid April. Videocraft have kindly given me their rental S-Log on loan till mine arrives.
Version 2.8 is out. Great little device.
Here’s a series of beautiful large format Kodachrome images from WWII. The depth and detail is stunning.
Sony USA have reduced the cost of the CBKRGB01 F3 S-Log upgrade by a huge amount, from near $4000US to $900US. Whether Sony Australia will follow suite is not known at this point, but I’d advise waiting to see. My CBKRGB01 has been paid for and back ordered for over a month now, but thankfully Videocraft allowed me to cancel that and refund me, to wait and see where this heads.
No doubt this is the result of the Canon C300 offering C-Log as standard, even though C-Log does not appear to be a true logarithmic gamma.
Alphatron have released the full specs for their EVF made by TVLogic. It looks to be a great little unit, as long as there is is no display lag and you can get accurate focus, I think it might be a great addition to my kit.
Also of interest at Alphatron is what looks to be a native F3 mount 16-28mm F2.8 variable prime from Zunow. This would be a useful lens on Steadicam.
