Art Adams has a short article on reducing flicker induced frame rate and shutter speeds over on Provideo Coalition.
Being US based, and so NTSC and 60Hz, you need to adjust the conclusion to our PAL 50Hz, so 60hz: 1/60, 1/30, etc becomes 50hz: 1/50, 1/25, for a 25P frame rate.

Lemac are hosting a Dedo workshop on the 29th of October, to be run by the inventor of the light himself, Dedo Weigert. Should be very good. The A.C.S. will have an exclusive evening session.

Sony has announced a slightly upgraded EX1, the EX1R, as well as a new 2/3″ CMOS shoulder mount, the PMW-350. The 350 now fills the large gap in the Sony range, between the EX3 and PDW-700. Looks pretty nice too.

Red must be preparing to launch their Epic, with their usual marketing misdirection and half truths. The recent Equire shoot which apparently used the 5K chip, showed a number of issues despite a very tightly controlled lighting setup and color palette. A very nice dissection of the shoot that was posted by Art Adams at Provideo Coalition has already been removed for some reason.
If Red would only spend half the effort they spend on flogging their cameras on actually refining the device, they would sell themselves.
